K-OS

I’m gonna throw it back a second for an artist I still feel is seriously under-appreciated for his talent and originality.  K-os, out of Toronto, caught my attention when he released Joyful Rebellion in 2004.  Immediately,  one thing was quite obvious; he was doing things differently than other hip hop artists at that time.  I noticed that he just didn’t subsribe to the normal hip hop cliches, both lyrically and musicaly, which was refreshing.  I haven’t had a chance to delve very deep into his other stuff, mostly because I love Joyful Rebellion so much.  I think it says a lot about an album that you loved the first time you listened to it, and still feel the same way six years down the line.  This is one of those albums.  If you don’t have it….get it.  Check out k-os’s site here and his Myspace here.
