Been meaning to write about Purity Ring for a while now…sorry it’s taken me this long but serrrrrriously….listen to how good these productions are. Soooo original and so clean. Love it. All of their sites literally say nothing about them other than tour dates, so i don’t know much. It’s ok though, their songs speak for themselves. Koan Sound

Can’t stop listening to these guys right now…soooooo good. Koan Sound, out of Bristol, UK caught my ear a few months back and with further look into their work, I became addicted. The hard stuff I like, but it’s their minimal, melodic work that I love. Their remix of Andain’s Promises is incredible, so is their original, Hesitation. Whoooooa, where did Feed Me come from? Never heard of him a month ago, and now he’s dominating the blogosphere. Don’t know much, other than he’s got a cool looking little character for himself, he’s from London and his music is awesome. James Blake

If I’m introducing you to James Blake for the first time, that makes me extremely happy because you’re about to get a peek at one of the most progressive producers out right now….I also happen to be seeing him tonight, so this post’s extra special for me. There’s literally nothing I’ve ever heard that compares to his sound. The first time I listened to the album, it made me cry….not even joking about that. Some of the sounds he’s engineered literally eat away at you…they dive deep into your soul. So, please, put on your favorite pair of headphones for this one…let the sound seep in. Zeds Dead

If you’re into Dubstep, I’d be seriously surprised if you haven’t heard of Zeds Dead yet. Based out of Toronto, the duo, made up of DC and Hooks, are really progressing the genre. Their unique sounds and unexpected remixes have been what made them stick out for me. Check out this new electro remix of Dragonette’s Volcano, as well as their remix of The Moody Blues’ Nights In White Satin, which I liked so much, I included it on my most recent mix, Sweet Dreams (Download here, Stream Here). Audio Oddity

Watching artists evolve through their careers is one of my favorite things about being in the music industry. I wrote about Audio Oddity, out of Southern Oregon last summer when he was remixing for Amp Live and fast forward to present, he just released his first, full-length album, titled Hiding In the Light. Upon first listen, I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised by his evolution as a musician. In fact, I liked the album so much, I listened to it three times in a row. What he’s created is an eclectic menagerie of beautiful melodies and uplifting vocal samples mixed with downtempo beats and tactful dubstep elements. Sounds awesome, right? Well, it is….that’s why he’s getting the rare double post. Check out these two tracks, along with two more on the continued post here. If you’ve experienced the HOHME HUNDRED 2010 or listened to my mixes and Found or Thoughts Grow, you’ve heard his work already. All that hype aside, I still feel it necessary to bring individual attention to Flux Pavilion, real name Joshua Steele, out of the UK. When I heard Got 2 Know back in May of 2010, he immediately became one of my favorite dubstep artists. As opposed to most producers in the genre these days, who try to take it as dirty as possible, Flux’s distinctively full and melodic sound has established him as one of the front runners in dubstep production today. I’m constantly excited to hear what’s next. Since you’ve already heard Cracks and Got 2 Know, here are two other great tracks, his new single, Haunt You, as well as a remix of Jamiroquai’s Blue Skies. Watch the F out. I’ve been listening to Nit Grit for about 6 months now since SamWise put me on and WOOOOOOOOOW. I’m not sure I’ve heard this level of sound engineering since I was introduced to Felix Laband. As far as I’m concerned, no one in the Dubstep arena is producing tracks as complex and interesting as this guy. I urge you to put on your favorite pair of headphones, close your eyes and let him take your mind on an aural journey through his sound. Skrillex

I’ve never seen an artist take over the blogosphere like Skrillex has managed to in the last couple months. I’ve watched him literally dominate Beatport and Hypem’s top song lists, not to mention I think every electro blog on earth has written about his EP release of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites recently. I’m sure he’s got some great management behind him, but when it comes down it, this guy is an awesome producer. He doesn’t pigeon-hole himself into a specific genre of electro, which I’m sure helps him both in expanding his audience reach as well as his live performance. Yes, he produces absolutely filthy Dubstep, but he also produces catchy, interesting House as well. I included two songs that display his versatility quite clearly. B-B-B-Baaaanger!!! Holy shit, Austrian Drum & Bass Duo, Camo & Krooked just came out of left field with this Dubstep killer. Their remix of Professor Green’s Monster is amazing. Perfect builds and love how they use melodic synths to add another level to the second beat drop…really great stuff. Matthew Michael, also known as Audio Oddity‘s been playing music in Southern Oregon for years now and he’s just starting to put some of his produced/sound engineered work out. Well, I’ll tell you what, he really stepped his game up for Amp Live’s Turn It Up remix contest. He’s due to release his first full-length EP entitled “Hiding in the Light” by January of 2011. HTL, in his words, will be “..a blend of both natural and electronic sounds designed to make you both move your feet and quench your soul.” Jump over to Amp Live’s site to vote for his remix, as he’s currently in the top 20 and the contest ends on the 22nd. Crunk In Public

Crunk In Public, out of my home city, Ashland, OR, are a new Retrostep mashup side-project of producer/DJs, Bassobese and RaSouL. I can’t stop listening to these two bangers I chose to share by them; one of Sublime’s classic, Summertime vs. Vaski, also Flo Rida’s Right Round vs. Sharps. I think a lot of dubstep producers these days are pigeonholing themselves into a genre that may be too niche to garner a serious following. Crunk In Public sounds like they know what they’re doing though. They’ve done a fantastic job adding hard dubstep elements to the track all while maintaining the catchy nature of both songs, which I think will be key for them to continue to gain exposure online while building a more diverse audience. They’ve currently got four dubstep/mashup tracks for free download on their bandcamp site, so hit that up for the additional tracks and may your summer be filled with sunshine, smiles, and tons of that womp.

Mt Eden Dubstep

The boy Samwise pointed me towards this Kiwi dubstep duo a few months back and I’ve been meaning to write about them ever since. New Zealand is the last place I’d expect this kind of music from but I was happily surprised by Mt Eden’s clean and consistent production. I decided to include their original track, Sierra Leone, along with a remix of Burial’s Archangel.
