Matthew Michael, also known as Audio Oddity’s been playing music in Southern Oregon for years now and he’s just starting to put some of his produced/sound engineered work out. Well, I’ll tell you what, he really stepped his game up for Amp Live’s Turn It Up remix contest. He’s due to release his first full-length EP entitled “Hiding in the Light” by January of 2011. HTL, in his words, will be “..a blend of both natural and electronic sounds designed to make you both move your feet and quench your soul.” Jump over to Amp Live’s site to vote for his remix, as he’s currently in the top 20 and the contest ends on the 22nd. Crunk In Public

Crunk In Public, out of my home city, Ashland, OR, are a new Retrostep mashup side-project of producer/DJs, Bassobese and RaSouL. I can’t stop listening to these two bangers I chose to share by them; one of Sublime’s classic, Summertime vs. Vaski, also Flo Rida’s Right Round vs. Sharps. I think a lot of dubstep producers these days are pigeonholing themselves into a genre that may be too niche to garner a serious following. Crunk In Public sounds like they know what they’re doing though. They’ve done a fantastic job adding hard dubstep elements to the track all while maintaining the catchy nature of both songs, which I think will be key for them to continue to gain exposure online while building a more diverse audience. They’ve currently got four dubstep/mashup tracks for free download on their bandcamp site, so hit that up for the additional tracks and may your summer be filled with sunshine, smiles, and tons of that womp.

And Found, my most recent mix to date, was downloaded over 2000x in it’s first week after release. The mix also qualified for the Pioneer DJ Network Competition on LetsMix.com. I managed to pack 75 artist into 77 minutes of, once again, the newest and best in House, Electro, Disco, Trance, and of course some filthy dubby Dubstep to close it out.

We all got a look at his track, Spliff, a few months back and fast forward to now, it’s one of my top read posts yet on the site. These two new tracks are bangers…not just because of the production quality but because of the high level of relatability his lyrics speak to the people in my age group (everyday 20-somethings). Mt Eden Dubstep

The boy Samwise pointed me towards this Kiwi dubstep duo a few months back and I’ve been meaning to write about them ever since. New Zealand is the last place I’d expect this kind of music from but I was happily surprised by Mt Eden’s clean and consistent production. I decided to include their original track, Sierra Leone, along with a remix of Burial’s Archangel. They don’t have much representation online, as far as I could find, they really only have a Facebook fan page, where you can check out their upcoming live shows. Either way, enjoy the womp

Rusko’s huge…if you know dubstep, his name is pretty much synonomous with the genre. He just released Da Cali Anthem, which is a BANGER, as it should be with a name like that. Dash Speaks

Dash Speaks has been a prominent player in New York underground hip-hop scene for a while now, releasing albums in 2005, 2006, 2007 and performing with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi, Talib Kweli, Mickey Factz, Mike Posner, and Das Racist. Fast forward to current, he just released his new album titled Geography (which you can download for free here). After over a year of writing and production, Dash finally feels he’s created an album that is an extention of him as an artist, not just “some another rapper”…and I couldn’t agree more. Super fresh and original beats make for a great foundation to back up his clean, syncopated flows. Definitely cop the album here and head down to Gallery Bar at 10pm tonight for his album release party featuring MemoryLaine (NSR + Nickname) and TJ di Hitmaker.

Hly shiz, this guy is good. Got the heads up from my boy Garrett on this Colorado based guitarist/DJ/Producer and immediately was getting down to his complex and progressive beats. I loved his 11-track EP Before I Sing and just recently downloaded his 4 song preview of an upcoming dual-volume release called Beyond the Looking Glass and wow, this guy can produce. He does a fantastic job fusing “elements of hip hop and soul with modern rock guitar and dubstep textures.” I literally can not sit still while listening to Attunement…that, my friends, is what I call a beat. Eliot Lipp

Eliot Lipp is a beat-smith. When I found Beamrider, I had just finished burning all the copies of my 2008 christmas mix. If I’d found it a week earlier, it would have definitely been on there. Such a dope airy synth, and with that infectious bass line, ahh, this track’s a banger. There are very few dubstep producers that really get me excited, Jakwob is one of them. You may remember him from the banger of a remix he did for Ellie Goulding’s Starry Eyed this past summer. Well, he’s back with a couple more awesome remixes. Another of Ellie’s, this time for her new single Under The Sheets as well as Alan Pownall’s A Life Worth Living. Worked on this mix all summer long, entitled When Passion Meets Intention, which points towards the incredible things that seem to happen when you give conscious focus to something you’re passionate about. It seems for me, the more I focus on things that I truly enjoy, the more opportunistic doors open. In fact, a large percentage of the lyrics from songs I use in my mixes end up being autobiographical, which might seem crazy, but consistently is proven the more I work. With almost 400 downloads since I dropped it on 8/31/09, I’m going to dub this my “first success” as a DJ. Thanks for the support hohmies. More to come soon…

Skream’s been producing awesome remixes for a while now. Hailing from the UK, a lot of what dubstep is now, you can thank Skream for. One of my favorite artists. ever. Consistently unique and progressive. There’s no other pop artist that I can think of, in my opinion, that pushes the boundaries like Imogen does. She’s got a firm grasp on technology, and even more so, knows exactly how to apply that knowledge to pop music and what is catchy. There are way to many songs by her that I could post, so I figured I’d throw up a couple remixes that you may not have heard before. First one’s by Enigma, second by Matamatics. Enjoy

This is one of my favorites tracks of 2009 thus far. Meet Ellie Goulding. She’s an awesome new electro-pop artist out of London. Oh, and meet Jakwob too. He’s a dope house/dub DJ/Producer out of London as well. Not sure exactly how it happened, but this blend of dubstep and electro-pop is definitely the best, cleanest I’ve heard yet. So, well done to both of you. Keep killing it.

Caspa

Normally, I’d stick to the original artist in a song, even if it’s remixed. However, if you’re Caspa, you pretty much completely remake the song. Case and point, his remix of Deadmau5’s hit I Remember. This guy IS dubstep. If you’re familiar with the genre, and don’t know Caspa, then you should.
